Maker Faire 2015

Rock The Bike is pleased to announce it’s umpteenth year involved in creating Pedal Powered Music offerings for multiple days at the Maker Faire of San Mateo. This event has grown to be one of the largest Maker Faires in the country, boasting ten’s of thousands of participants per day, and new technology and inspirations to make your mind bend. Rock The Bike has been a huge part of creating and inspiring innovation at the Maker’s Faire and Bay Area, through pedal powered concerts that make us think of where our power is coming from, and how we might want to use our time and energy more efficiently as an individual or community. So let’s get to it! Here is the line-up and details of the Bike ride down to Maker’s Faire 2016:

Friday:

6 pm: Justin Ancheta & Soul G  – involves the dynamic presents of bay areas top musicians mixed with electronica; a show that will make the subs sweat just a little.

Saturday:

12 pm: Bryan Patrick Magician – a family favorite, Bryan Patrick brings a magic show to amaze you, making your face melt with smiles and laughs

12:35 pm: Rock The Bike ‘Pedal Power Challenge’ will engage you in an energy challenge showing you how much leg power it takes for different household and business appliances. This educational show is a participatory event. If you’d like to sign up to be one of the kid or adult pedalers for the pedal power challenge, email us here: soulgbooking@gmail.com

1:10 pm: Batala SF – brings a hard hitting live percussion ensemble to get your booty shaking and your hips moving. Get ready for this large group of live percussionist to surround you with their heavy hitting drum power.

1:35 pm: Pamela Parker – is one of the Bay Areas most rocking front woman of this decade. With pipes reminiscent of Janis Joplin, Miss Parker is going to rock your socks off on the Rock the Bike pedal powered stage!

2:20 pm: Magical Nathaniel – is going to do his magic show that involves tricks that will make you start thinking the impossible is possible; or you will be curious how he does what he does. Come bring the kids to this fun magic show and help pedal power magic!

2:40 pm: Rock The Bike ‘Pedal Power Challenge’ #2 will engage you in an energy challenge showing you how much leg power it takes for different household and business appliances. 3:15 pm: The Calling All Choir – is a San Francisco non-audition community singing organization led by founder and artistic director Mark Growden. This 70 person ensemble is going to be a first for the Rock the Bike pedal powered stage.

4 pm: Barb – a great singer/songwriter from San Francisco with original tunes, backed by the amazing Daniel Fabricant on bass, and Aaron Kierbel on drums.

5 pm: Heather Normandale – Bike touring musician that has toured throughout Europe with the Pleasant Revolution, Heather’s voice is a unique blend of richness, allowing the space to open to the subtleties of sound that we wish we could always hear. It is always a treat to have her perform on the pedal powered stage.

5:45: Drea M – Drea. M commands the heart to listen, and her soulful, haunting vocals and harmonies are an intricately textured, sonic treat.

6 pm: Gringa – An all girl band that is bringing deep pocket rhythms and latin vibes to get you moving and dancing.

Sunday:

12:00 PM: Bryan Patrick Magician – a family favorite, Bryan Patrick brings a magic show to amaze you, making your face melt with smiles and laughs

1:00 PM: The Genie – A self made looping guitarist that uses innovative ways to play his electric guitar like no other. The Genie has been a part of the Pleasant Revolution Bicycle Tours of Europe that Rock The Bike was also a part of, creating Bicycle Music Festivals in countless cities across the European continent.

2:00 PM: Bicicletas Por La Paz – Led by Bike enthusiast Adley, this band is about to embark on their own ecotopian bike tour from Canada to California this summer with their own RTB pedal powered system. You can see them in action this year at the Maker Faire and get involved in their crowd funding campaign HERE.

3:00 PM: Blacknature Band – One of the Bay Area’s top Reggae Musician’s, Black Nature band brings his heavy hitting rhythms every time. Black Nature is one of the original’s from the Sierra Leone Refugee Allstars, an internationally acclaimed touring act from Africa.

4:00 PM: Honey Of The Heart – with their newest multi CD release happening May 13th at the CFTA of Grass Valley, this band is fresh off the press with their rich three part harmonies,  and songs of inspiration and sorrow, they will be a show stopper for the pedal powered stage this year at the Maker Faire 2016!

4:45 PM: Del Corazon Dance Troupe – From Grass Valley, California, this dance troupe of teenagers is led by Devyn Cottrell. They will be featuring some fresh new dance moves from the hills to their first ever pedal powered stage performance. Come support them!Del Corazon

5:00 PM Mission Delirium – One of the Bay Area’s top brass bands that will get everyone dancing ecstatically. This group has performed numerous times at the Maker Faire and will create a show that you will love and appreciate. Don’t miss it!

Magical Nathaniel will be doing some magic in between acts both days. Come ride down Saturday with us, or come enjoy Sunday at the RTB stage! We will be at the Maker Faire ALL weekend.
